Abstract:
STADIUM® modeling is used to determine the time to corrosion for various corrosion resistant reinforcing bars in a deicing and marine environment. In some cases, sulfate attack of the concrete will necessitate the use of higher concrete cover than would be needed if only chloride induced corrosion is considered. Service life costs are based on initial and net present value costs of future repairs. Using corrosion resistant reinforcing bars prolongs the service life and reduces the costs versus black bars.
