Abstract:
A research project focused on investigating an alternative method for reclamation of leftover and returned concrete. The proposed process was based on allowing plastic concrete to harden for a short period, after which it is crushed for use as aggregate in new mixes. The results of the experimental study regarding the properties of new concrete made with the recycled aggregates are discussed. The initial findings indicate that properties such as strength may be enhanced by the use of this by-product within a certain window of time. Other properties such as workability may be decreased due to the nature of the crushed material.
