Abstract:
Presents a method for calculating the minimum thickness of conventionally reinforced circular silo walls. It also includes a method for calculating the additional hoop reinforcement necessitated by thermal stresses caused by hot granular materials stored in a silo and recommendations for vertical reinforcement. A numerical example illustrates the use of formulas, tables, and curves.
