Abstract:
The successful implementation of 24 key steps in constructing a quality floor slab-on-grade for DaimlerChrysler Corporation at the Windsor, Ontario Minivan Assembly Plant is described. The culmination of an evolutionary project by project, not revolutionary, approach, the authors believe that they have established a state-of-the-art basis for future DaimlerChrysler Assembly Plant floors. Each of the 24 steps, from the preconstruction meeting to skilled operators utilizing properly maintained new tools, is discussed within the context of three focus areas: management, design, and construction.
