Abstract:
The resistance of concrete to chemical attack may often be enhanced or maximized by careful attention to concrete pro-portioning, mixing, placing, and curing procedures. However, in a number of situations concrete must be protected by barrier materials which prevent contact with the chemical agent. Materials available for protection have been classified here, and tables have been provided as a guide for protection against specific agents. Methods of application, with consideration for both effectivenss and safety, are discussed. The report is intended to serve as a guide prior to consultation with experts regarding the specific situation.
