Abstract:
A method is described by which the internal crack pattern, crack width, and crack spacing in reinforced members can be investigated. The method consists of injecting a resin into loaded tension or flexural reinforced concrete members. The applied load is maintained for 6 to 8 hr while the resin is allowed to set. The members are then cut open by a diamond saw and the internal cracks (maintained in their original positions) are studied with a microscope.
