Abstract:
Stresses and deflections in shells with hyperbolic paraboloidical (hypar) midsurfaces and straight sides under arbitrary loading and restraint conditions are represented by a combination of (a) a membrane solution, (b) an inextensional solution, and (c) a series of strip solutions. The fundamental stress systems are presented and two sample problems illustrate the application of this concept.
