Abstract:
Pretensioned prestressed concrete beams and conventionally reinforced concrete beams of the same size were subjected to impulsive type loading and to static loading. Dynamic loads reached their peak values in from 0.005 to 0.006 sec. in a specially designed testing machine. Data were recorded with a high speed movie camera operated at speeds of about 2000 frames per sec. Comparisons of the behavior of the two types of concrete beams were based on a frame by frame analysis of the films and corre-lation with their static destructive tests.
