Abstract:
Summary of available knowledge of the nature of corrosion as found in concrete - its causes, effects and control in manufacture, curing, and insulation or protection. The most common forms of deterioration encountered may be classified under the headings of (I ) acid action, (2) weathering, (3) action of sea water, and (4) action of alkali. Information is given on the reactions taking place in each case and recommendations are made for the prevention of such dis- integration.
