Abstract:
The development of the use of reinforced Haydite concrete has introduced various problems in design and construction with this material. While light weight is the property that makes desirable the use of Haydite concrete, the engineeer and contractor require information on other properties, particularly those affectig strength, durability and ease of construction. There is a demand for information on proportions to produce a specified strength and workability, and on methods of quality control The designer wants, in addition to data on unit weight and strength, information as to the elastic behavior of the material and its action in a structure. The effect of the relatively low modulus of elasticitiy of Haydite concrete is of importance, and may have a considerable influence upon the economy of design.
