Abstract:
Describes the design and construction of a 20-million gallon concrete reservoir for the city of Detroit. The hydraulic arrangements of the filtration plant required that the reservoir be almost entirely below the natural ground surface. The roof was designed to carry highway loads and roadways and walks were con-across the roof. Details described include excavation, pile foundations, concrete design and mix-tures, form ties, and waterproofing.
