Abstract:
Rational theories and expressions for bond, shear, and diagonal tension are developed from the theory usually given in treatises in mechanics for horizontal shear. By this procedure the expression for bond is nearest the fundamental. From this come horizontal and vertical shear and their vector sum which is diagonal tension. This leads directly to the general expression 17) of 804, (d) of the ACI Building Cod e A C I 501-36- T ).
