Abstract:
Describes experimental work with carbon dioxide gas to reduce efflorescence on asbestos-cement shin- gles. Factors investigated in connection with the reaction of carbon dioxide gas with the free lime of the shingles were: The effect of different arrangements of shingles for exposure to the carbon dioxide; the effect of the age and density of the shingles, concentrations of carbon dioxide gas, effect of temperature, moisture content, and of the depth to which the reactions occurred.
