Abstract:
Records how the necessity for the conservation of critical materials - notably steel - was met with ingenuity and resourcefulness by the concrete products industry. Small individual steel savings when multiplied by larger production resulted in conserving enormous quantities. time production. Over and above the 200,000,000 odd concrete masonry units used in temporary war housing, 185 manu-facturers in 35 states produced well over 3,000,OOO precast products of one kind or another during 1943. These products described, and many of them illustrated, will in many instances carry on into peace time production.
