Abstract:
The repair of concrete structures is an engineering problem, each job containing the elements of diag-nosis, treatment, and execution. Diagnosis is essential to devising successful repair. Treatment may mean the correction of faults of design, materials, workmanship; and exposure; protection against destructive agents restoraton of decay; or a combination of these. The execution of repair may sometimes use methods of expediency rather than logic - a com- promise between what one would like and what one can do. The paper considers the more common agents destructive to concrete and is a brief introduction to an important subject.
