Abstract:
Precasting is becoming a major factor in the choice of reinforced concrete as a construction mate- rial because of ever-rising cost of labor and materials. The advantages of precasting are not however con- fined to savings in cost and materials. Since it Is a planned method of constructlon, comparable to factory production, its use also assures. a better control of quality and speedier completion of the project. This article is an attempt to show how pre-casting can be utilized t o provide the framing of a great variety of structures. The first part deals with bent type of framing as used in buildings the second describes a novel type of framing consisting of precast cells, particularly suitable for floating structures.
