Abstract:
Scuttled decades ago off the coast of Galveston, Tex., the SS Selma was one of a handful of concrete ships built for World War I purposes but never saw combat. The ship, still visible above the water line, has achieved historical status due to the efforts of its owner, former newsman A. Pat Daniels. It is an official landmark of the Texas Army and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
