Abstract:
Recently, the important and essential contributions of field observations to structural design have been given less emphasis. Field observations are divided into three categories: construction observation, per-formance observation, and failure observation. This article discusses characteristics of each observation and explores benefits gained by performing such observations. Performance observation is emphasized.
