Abstract:
This guide for determining the fire resistance concrete elements is a summary of practical inforn tion intended for use by architects, engineers, a building officials who must design concrete structur for particular fire resistances or evaluate structur as designed. The guide contains information for det mining the fire endurance of simply supported slabs and beams, continuous beams and slabs, floors a roofs in which restraint to thermal expansion occurs, walls, and reinforced concrete columns. Information is also given for determining the fire endurance of c tain concrete members based on heat transmission criteria. Appendixes giving the properties of steel and con crete at high temperatures and temperature distrittions within concrete members exposed to fire are also included. A selected bibliography on the various subjects discussed in the guide is incorporated in the document. While the guide does not consider all aspects of the fire resistance of concrete elements, the listed references in the bibliography afford the opportunity of exploring the subject further.
