Abstract:
The durability and maintenance costs of concrete highway bridge decks are highly dependent on the care exercised during the construction phase, in-cluding attendant activities during the preconstruction and postconstruction periods. Recommendations relative to these periods are presented covering the areas of design considerations inspection, preconstruction planning, falsework and formwork, reinforcement, concrete materials and properties, measuring and mixing, placing and consolidation, finishing, curing, postconstruction care, and the I) of overlays.
