Abstract:
Safe construction practices in formwork are twofold: safe working conditions for the workmen, and adequate form design and construction to assure the safety of the structure. Formwork failures, on the other hand, are caused by ignorance, willfulness, greed, or stupidity. This article discusses the major problem areas of vertically and laterally overloading formwork, as well as fire hazards. A checklist is provided for the form designer and the constructor.*
