Abstract:
The use of many individual small programs running on a microcomputer is compared with the use of a large-scale, integrated system for reinforced con-crete design Microprograms require considerable bookkeeping by the engineer and may limit design freedom. Integrated systems combine analysis and floor/beam/column design so that the machine handles the data. While microcomputer systems are beneficial, overall engineering productivity may be enhanced by use of integrated programs.*
