Abstract:
The Central Arizona Project Canal System (CAP) will, by the end of the decade, annually carry some 500 billion ft3 (14 billion m3) of water uphill from the California border to Phoenix and Tucson, Ariz. The U.S. Department of the Interior Bureau of Reclamation project presents a great challenge to the contractors involved. The lining of the massive canal (three times the length of the Suez) will require enough concrete to cover an area of about 60 square miles.
