Abstract:
Discusses research into the properties and applications of ferrocement at the National University of Singapore started in the early 1970s including determining the stress at first crack and the ultimate strength in tension and flexure. The effect of various parameters, such as percentage of steel, type and number of layers of wire mesh, mesh size, and wire size were studied. Recent investigations include study of fatigue and long-term behavior of ferrocement. Several studies were conducted on the application and performance of prototype ferrocement structures such as water tanks, silos, sunshades, secondary roofing slabs, shell elements and boats.*
