Abstract:
This paper presents a truss model for a simple structure (a deep beam) whose strength is governed by the development of a bar in a compression-compression- tension nodal zone (C-C-T node), as well as the failure mecha-nism compatible with the truss model. The modeling clarifies the bond transfer and its dependence on the effects of such factors as the geometry, reinforcement details, and material strengths of considered structures and its state of stress, which is influenced by supports and loading conditions. The modeling concepts presented also form the basis for consistent truss modeling of bar development in other nodal zones (T-T-C and T-T-T nodes).
