Abstract:
This paper shows that the fluidity of antiwashout underwater concrete can be estimated from the volume fraction of coarse aggregate and the mortar flow. A reasonable mix design can be made with only rheological data of mortar and data on coarse aggregate, which can reduce the tremendous task of trial mix to make a reasonable mix design. This paper also shows that if the mortar-flow was more than 250 mm or the viscosity of mortar was less than 8 MPa, the segregation resistance of the concrete may not be satisfactory. It also shows a difference between the properties of mortar mixed with and without coarse aggregate.
