Abstract:
Commom practice in concrete mix proportioning and control relates the consistancy of concrete, as measured by slump, with water requirement. A more realistic approach ids to relate slump with aggregate content, keeping the water and cement fixed constants in trial mixes. The amount of aggregate that can be used with a given quantatity of paste provides a realistic evaluation of the value of compariative proportions of materials used.
