Abstract:
Ever since the terminology "high-performance concrete" (HPC) was introduced into the industry, there have been numerous attempts to develop a definition. In 1998, the Technical Activities Committee and its subcommittee on high-performance concrete derived and approved an official ACI definition: "high-performance concrete – concrete meeting special combinations of performance and uniformity requirements that cannot always be achieved routinely using conventional constituents and normal mixing, placing, and curing practices." Commentary on the ACI definition is included.
