Abstract:
Reactive lateral pressures of curved reinforcement are discussed and evaluated. The interaction between concrete and curved bars is utilized to form self-restraining mats for flat slabs. This new method of reinforcement is described and a design example is given. A loading test is recommended to establish the confidence necessary to use this method in all countries that employ reinforced concrete design.
