Abstract:
A visual condition survey was made on a 10-year-old concrete lining on the Barr Lake Dam embankment, near Brighton, Colorado. The original lining had been replaced by a 4 inch thickness of steel fiber reinforced concrete (SFRC). Overall appearance of the concrete was excellent, and the surface texturing indicated an absence of excessive wear or erosion. Examination revealed several minor cracks and one localized area of plastic shrinkage cracks that occurred during construction, but no major problems. The thin SFRC lining has provided watertightness, which was the design objective.
