Abstract:
Ensuring continuity of horizontal reinforcing bars at wall intersections requires the consideration of splice details. Horizontal reinforcing bars at wall intersections can be hooked at one or both ends, but long bars with hooks are difficult to handle. They may also make it difficult to meet cover requirements, and they can hurt project efficiencies by making it difficult to produce, handle, and install prefabricated bar curtains. In contrast, short bars with hooks may be practical alternatives for smaller structures. Illustrations of constructible details are provided.
