Abstract:
Frank Lloyd Wright developed his textile block system for construction of middle-income housing in accordance with his Usonian concepts. Most of the houses built using the system were completed in the 1920s through the 1950s throughout the U.S. This article explores a few of the existing homes and a building currently under construction on the Florida Southern College campus, Lakeland, FL. The new building is based on Wright’s original plans, but the materials being used are more durable than those used in historical buildings.
