Abstract:
This work is a contribution to the analysis of the seismic behaviour in steel buildings and considering the seismic risk analysis in an urban area situated in a low seismic hazard region and in a moderate seismic hazard region. The vulnerability and the seismic risk of a steel building are evaluated by means of capacity based spectrum method. The structural model used in the analysis corresponds to a real steel building of 8 storeys with concrete slab. The main objective is obtaining, for this building, the capacity and fragility curves. Two specific seismic scenarios, one for the city of Barcelona and another for Almeria, are considered. Taking into account all these results, the probability damage matrices are obtained. The results show, for this typology, a good behaviour for the acceleration of Barcelona, however, for a bigger acceleration, like Almeria, the damages expected are moderate.
