Abstract:
This article compares the results of the temperature instrumentation, and particularly the uniform temperature variation range of the instrumented decks of various concrete bridges, steel bridges, and composite (steel and concrete) bridges, comparing the results with the ones obtained by applying the old Spanish code of thermal actions (Instruction of actions for road bridges IAP-98) and the Eurocode of thermal actions. As it will be shown in the article, the results obtained in the instrumentation approximate very well to the ones expected by the formulation of the Eurocode of thermal actions, and as it was proved in the reference [1], the results of applying the old IAP-98 code are in most of the cases not on the safety side, what has finally motivated the adoption of the thermal actions of Eurocode in the new IAP-11 code.
