Abstract:
The singular composite San Timoteo and Canero viaducts are located in the Querúas-Otur section of highway N-632 and N-634 in Asturias. They were designed so their deck could be easily widened from 12.60 m to 22.60 m in order to increase the capacity of the highway. The existing lateral brackets were simply prolonged by means of bolted steel extensions supported on diagonal braces attached to the lower part of the box girder?s vertical web, in order to allow the prolongation of the existing upper slab to be supported on the new elements. The mounting has been carried out by means of a selfpropelled concreting car that has allowed the viaduct widening to be constructed 6.66 m per 24 h and to avoid affecting the vehicle traffic which can be maintained without interruption.
