Abstract:
The nation has seen a large increase in the construction of concrete overlays for the rehabilitation of highways over the past fifteen years. This has been driven by the fact that many of the nation’s highways have declined to the point that there is a need to increase the structural capacity of the roadway so that the life can be extended 10 to 30 years without total reconstruction. As a result, there has been an increased interest in how to maximize the performance of concrete overlays and in improving the design methodologies available.
