• An Overview of Two Documents—ACI 544.9R and ACI 544.2R-17: Report on the Measurement of Fresh State Properties, Mechanical Properties, and Fiber Dispersion of Fiber-Reinforced Concrete, by Liberato Ferrara, Politecnico di Milano
• An Overview of the Document ACI 544.8R-16: Report on Indirect Method to Obtain Stress-Strain Response of Fiber-Reinforced Concrete (FRC), by Barzin Mobasher, Arizona State University
• An Overview of the Document ACI 544.4R-18: Design Guide for Fiber Reinforced Concrete, by Amir Bonakdar, The Euclid Chemical Company
• Recent Advances in Durability: An Overview of the Document ACI 544.5R-10 and Updates, by Corina-Maria Aldea, Amec Foster Wheeler
INSTRUCTIONS: Study the materials included in this module. Then, complete and pass the corresponding 10-question quiz with a score of 80% or higher to receive a certificate for 0.125 CEU (equivalent to 1.25 PDH). Description
ACI Committee 544 has developed new documents addressing fresh concrete properties, mechanical properties, back calculation of tensile properties, structural design with fiber-reinforced concrete (FRC), design of elevated slabs with FRC, and design of precast tunnel lining with FRC. This course includes presentations that address document contents, how the specific topics of documents interact with each other, as well ways to implement and incorporate the knowledge in these documents in the design and specification. The speakers are the members of the committee who were the primary authors of the documents.

Table of Contents
Learning objectives:
1. List new test methods for characterization and specification of early age and mechanical properties of fiber reinforced concrete.
2. Discuss new procedures for back calculation of tensile material properties and residual strength parameters based on standard flexural tests conducted to fiber reinforced concrete.
3. Describe the development of analysis and design procedures for use of fiber-reinforced concrete in slabs-on-ground and elevated slabs.
4. List some concrete durability improvements when fiber reinforcement is used in slabs-on-ground.
5. Explain the development, analysis, design, manufacturing, and applications of tunnel lining segments with fiber reinforced concrete.
