Notes/Preview

The contents of this course include four recorded presentations from the ACI 2024 Spring Convention:

• Testing to Develop Design Methods and Code Language by Eric Kreiger, Army Engineer Research and Development Center

• Full-Scale Testing of Low-Rise Additively Constructed Concrete (ACC) Walls Designed for Seismic Applications by Mohammad Aghajani Delavar, Texas A&M University

• A New Methodology to Characterize the Intralayer Bonding Capacity of a 3D Printing Reinforced Concrete by Francesco Soave, Politecnico di Milano

• Methodology for Structural Design of Low-rise Additively Constructed Concrete (ACC) Buildings by Sumedh Sharma, Texas A&M University

INSTRUCTIONS: Study the materials included in this module. Then, complete and pass the corresponding 10-question quiz with a score of 80% or higher to receive a certificate for 0.1 CEU (equivalent to 1.0 PDH).

Description

The objective of this course is to offer speakers an open forum for presentation of recent technical information relevant to structural performance of Additively Constructed Concrete (3D Printed Concrete). This could lead to synthesis of tests currently being performed to evaluate structural performance. This is open to academicians, engineers and contractors.

Table of Contents

Learning objectives:

1. Illustrate recent structural testing methods for walls and columns in additively constructed concrete (ACC) applications.

2. Assess the design and modeling methodology for low-rise ACC buildings under gravity and lateral loads.

3. Evaluate the role of layer interfaces in ACC and methods to improve load transfer in 3D-printed structures.

4. Analyze the bond strength between printed layers in 3D-printed reinforced concrete and the factors affecting it.
