Description
This is a recorded webinar from September 10, 2024.
Alkali-activated cements (AACs) are a sustainable alternative to traditional portland cement (PC) binders, utilizing aluminosilicate-containing industrial by-products or naturally occurring materials as precursors. Activated by alkali solutions, AACs produce cementitious products with mechanical and durability properties comparable to or superior to PC, while significantly reducing CO2 emissions. While AACs may not fully replace PCs in all applications, they offer viable solutions in specific scenarios due to their economic and technical advantages. This webinar will provide a comprehensive overview of AAC's history, chemistry, mechanical and durability properties, highlighting their potential and current technical challenges.
