16 ACI Committee chairs recently convened at ACI Headquarters in Farmington Hills, MI, USA, to obtain in-depth understanding of the technical committee processes and operations during the first annual ACI Committee Chair Training Session. A packed agenda included the step-by-step process of developing an ACI technical document, an overview of the Technical Activities Committee and their role as oversight for all technical committees. The large group of new ACI Technical Committee Chairs, and Technical Activities Committee members—gathered together to benefit from an extensive training session, and network with other committee members. After ACI Executive Vice President Ron Burg welcomed everyone, ACI staff presented an overview of the Technical Committee Manual, and how to handle common situations that occur during a chair term, such as balloting, meeting rules, and preparing documents. The structure of committees, committee meetings, sessions and special publications, and document development were discussed. Common scenarios that occur in committees were covered to better understand how to apply the Technical Committee Manual rules to a committee, as well as show how the ACI website can be used to enhance committee work. The ACI Committee Chair Training was a success, and ACI hopes to continue and expand the program in the future. Explore and join ACI Committees.
