The Pervious Concrete Cylinder Competition was held on Sunday, October 23, 2022, during the ACI Concrete Convention in Dallas, TX, USA.
Twenty-nine teams from the USA, Canada, Mexico, Ecuador, Peru, Guatemala, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, India, and Nigeria submitted projects for judging in this year’s competition sponsored by ACI Committee 238 Pervious Concrete Cylinder.
The undergraduate university teams are challenged to apply sustainability concepts and use their knowledge of concrete mixture design by producing pervious concrete, which balances permeability and splitting tensile strength. Teams were judged in two categories - cylinder performance and best-in-show mixture. Cash prizes were awarded ranging from $750 USD, $500 USD, and $250 USD for first, second, and third prizes respectively.
