Thirty-three teams from the USA, Canada, Mexico, Ecuador, Peru, Guatemala, Taiwan, the Philippines, India, Poland and Puerto Rico submitted projects for judging in this year’s competition sponsored by ACI Committees 544 Fiber-Reinforced Concrete, 544-B FRC Education, 239 Ultra-High-Performance Concrete and 239-E Educational Outreach, and S801 Student Competitions Committee. The undergraduate university teams are challenged to demonstrate the behavior of fiber reinforcement within concrete to gain experience in forming and fabricating a fiber-reinforced concrete element, and to encourage creativity in engineering design predictions and analysis testing. Teams were judged in two categories – bowling ball design prediction and bowling ball analysis test. Cash prizes were awarded ranging from $750 USD, $500 USD, and $250 USD for first, second, and third prizes respectively.
