RESULTS FOR GUIDEWAY

Guideways refer to the elevated transit structures used to passenger vehicles in and through urban areas. Guideways often precast/prestressed or post-tensioned concrete members, which provide easier and more timely erection and provide stiff load-resisting elements to reduce deflections. Other demands include performance, cost, efficiency, the need for aesthetics, and minimum urban disruption during construction and operation, many of which are greater than those for most bridge structures. Within a modern transit guideway system, there is a high degree of repeatability of elements, straight and curved to provide the desired travel alignment.
