Applications are invited for the 2024 ACI-James Instruments Student Award for Research on NDT of Concrete for original research on nondestructive testing of concrete. The award is sponsored by James Instruments, Inc., a Chicago-based manufacturer, and distributor of NDT systems, and it will be given by ACI Committee 228, Nondestructive Testing. Papers must be submitted to Dirk Heidbrink by December 1, 2024, for a chance to win cash prize of $1,500.
To be eligible for this awards program, Student Chapters will be required to submit a 2024 Annual Report. Student Chapters that meet the minimum point requirement will receive recognition as an Outstanding Student Chapter. Submissions due December 31, 2024.
The objective of this competition is to demonstrate the behavior of fiber reinforcement within concrete, to gain experience in forming and fabricating a fiber-reinforced concrete element, and to encourage creativity in engineering design predictions and analysis testing. Registration due February 6, 2025.
Important Announcements
Thirty teams from the USA, Mexico, Ecuador, Peru, Guatemala, Chile, and Puerto Rico submitted projects for judging in this year’s competition sponsored by ACI Committee 522 Pervious Concrete. Winners were announced during the ACI Student Awards Program on November 4, 2024, in Philadelphia, PA, USA.
Undergraduate students are invited to submit an abstract describing their concrete-related research for a chance to present their research during the upcoming ACI Concrete Convention in Toronto, ON, Canada, from March 30-April 2, 2025. Abstracts due November 15.
