A two-part session featuring presentations of original, unpublished results from ongoing research projects and leading-edge concrete technology and research throughout the world took place at The Concrete Convention and Exposition, Salt Lake City, UT, USA, on Monday March 26, 2018. Sponsored by ACI Committee 123, Research and Current Developments, “Research in Progress” showcased presentations on several topics including marine concrete; geopolymers; admixtures; cementitious materials; and service life assessment. Committee 123 also sponsored the Concrete Research Poster Session. This event provides further opportunity for the presentations from ongoing research. Learn more. This forum provided insight into to ongoing research areas that can give an edge to cement-based materials on the construction market, and effective methods of implementing and adopting research in the industry. Discussion centered around research needs and technologies that will allow concrete to remain a widely used construction material. Stone talked about the ability to “go for the gold” when everything is on the line, and attendees were given the tools to think, prepare, and perform like a champion no matter the surrounding environment or influential parties.
