Destiny of Concrete - Rules and Regulations

Overview of the evolution of an idea into a rule or regulation with discussions focused on the model code development process in the United States, including code change proposals being considered for the 2027 International Code Council model codes; development of regulations in state and local codes and government agencies; and the role of standards, new venues for referencing standards, and need for local engagement. Design Professionals, Contractors, Producers, Chapter Leadership, Students, and Educators.

Learning Objectives:
(1) Understand the development processes for rules and regulations with an emphasis on building codes;
(2) Discover key concepts being proposed for the 2027 International Code Council and National Fire Protection Association model building codes;
(3) Recognize the expanding scopes of codes and standards and new venues for outreach and advocacy;
(4) Identify resources and opportunities to advocate for the proper advancement of concrete technology and to control your business’s destiny.
