Recent advances in non-conventional construction materials are of great importance in the structural engineering community. Researchers and practitioners are eager to find novel ideas and applications that can extend the serviceable life of load-bearing members at affordable cost. For example, there has been significant progress in the area of non-metallic reinforcement for concrete structures, which effectively addresses concerns arising from corrosion, and the adoption of durable cementitious composites for bridge decks dramatically lowers the need for maintenance activities. The Special Issue titled 'Structural Application of Non-Conventional Materials' deals with essential information on the principles, developments, and implementations of non-conventional materials for ameliorating the longevity of constructed facilities from a structural point of view.
