Convention attendees at The Concrete Convention and Exposition will be hearing and seeing a lot about the American Concrete Institute Excellence in Concrete Construction Awards throughout the week. That’s no accident – the Excellence Awards are taking the spotlight to raise awareness and excitement about the inaugural Awards Gala taking place November 9, 2015 in Denver, CO, USA. As convention attendees register, they are receiving ‘save the date’ Excellence pins that can be displayed throughout the year. Bright, vibrant kiosks are stationed throughout the exhibit hall in the Kansas City Convention Center playing a video with information on the inaugural Awards Gala. Tickets for the Gala will be available for purchase beginning in May during registration for the Fall Concrete Convention and Exposition. The Awards Gala will be an event unlike any ACI has hosted before -- with a focus on global excellence, this is the first project-based award program ACI has created. New in 2015, the ACI Excellence in Concrete Construction Awards were created to honor the visions of the most creative projects in the concrete industry. These awards provide a platform to honor concrete innovation and excellence across the globe, and recognize concrete projects at the forefront of innovation and technology The competition is open to those who have won awards at a local level through the global network of ACI chapters. Concrete projects of all types are eligible to receive an award in the following six categories: low-rise buildings; high-rise buildings; flatwork; infrastructure; decorative concrete; and repair/restoration. All entries must be submitted through local chapters. Chapters that do not have a local projects awards program still are eligible to submit entries for up to 3 years while a local awards program is developed and launched. Entries will be juried by an independent panel of industry professionals. The most prestigious award will be the “Excellence” award selected from all projects. First and second place awards may be given in each category. The top “Excellence” award will be kept secret until November at the Awards Gala.
