As a result of the dedication and collective wisdom of the American Concrete Institute’s 18,000 members and 20,000 chapter members, 2015 was a successful year that energized and advanced the concrete industry. Just last month, a record-breaking 2,000 attendees joined us in Denver, CO, USA, for the Institute’s Fall Convention. These members continued their work advancing the Institute’s work and enhancing their own knowledge at technical sessions, but also took time to celebrate the world’s most innovative concrete projects at the inaugural ACI Excellence in Concrete Construction Awards . Take a moment to check out the amazing concrete work on the Museum of European and Mediterranean Civilizations in Marseille, France, and the nine other award winning projects. Earlier in 2015, ACI launched the new ACI University and two new Masonry Testing Technician certification programs. Also this year, thousands of designers attended our ACI 318-14 Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete seminars and on-demand webinars. Packed full of additional information and design examples, a team of staff and members published the Reinforced Concrete Design Handbook as an invaluable companion to ACI 318-14. The Institute continues to strengthen our partnerships around the world in countries including Australia , Chile , China , Japan , and Iraq , among others. Last month, ACI and the Fédération Internationale du Béton (fib) formalized their relationship – while the two organizations and their members have worked together for years, this new agreement memorialized both Institutes’ desires to collaboratively develop and disseminate technical information on concrete and concrete structures. 2015 was also a great year for the ACI Foundation . Through the ongoing support of ACI along with generous individual donors and corporate sponsors, this year the ACI Foundation was able to award 19 deserving students with fellowships and scholarships, while also providing an increased level of funding to industry-critical research projects. ACI will continue its industry-leading technical knowledge while pursuing new initiatives that expand our global collaboration, membership opportunities, and engagement with the industry’s youth. We're excited for the year ahead, and hope that you’ll join us on the journey.
