The American Concrete Institute and the American Society of Concrete Contractors are seeking an editor for the next edition of The Contractor’s Guide to Quality Concrete Construction. Published jointly by ACI and ASCC, the three previous editions of The Contractor’s Guide to Quality Concrete Construction have been a best-selling document for both organizations. ACI and ASCC now plan to jointly produce a 4th Edition. Some initial revisions have been drafted by ACI and ASCC committees responsible for the document. An editor is now needed to provide further revisions, increase and update the photos and illustrations, and speak to the intended audience at a consistent and appropriate technical level throughout the document. ACI and ASCC are searching for an individual interested in serving as a paid editor and are therefore requesting statements of qualifications from interested parties. After reviewing the statements of qualifications, ACI and ASCC will request proposals from one or more parties. The editor selected will be expected to work closely with committee members and staff from ACI and ASCC regarding the development and review of any material developed. ACI and ASCC will be responsible for publishing the document, including document layout, technical editing, and other related tasks. Qualifications must be submitted by individuals interested in being considered. The statement of qualifications should address the following: A summary of work history relevant to the construction of concrete structures, including authored publications; A statement of any potential conflicts of interest related to companies in the construction industry or that supply products or materials to the construction industry (such as performing consulting or research for material suppliers, relatives that work in the construction industry, financial interest in a product supplier, etc.); and A description of your approach to completing the document in a 6 month timeframe Statements of qualifications must be received at ACI Headquarters no later than 8:00 am Eastern on Monday, January 18, 2016. Submit a 3-page maximum statement of qualifications electronically to Mike Tholen at mike.tholen@concrete.org.
